Changelog
What's new in Behave.
v25Sep 3, 2026Improved
- New accounts now land straight in the dashboard, free, no card required - add your debts and see the chart before you're ever asked to pay. A banner offers the 60-day free trial when you're ready; accounts that never start one are cleared after 90 days of inactivity.
v24Aug 25, 2026Fixed
- New signups no longer have to leave the site to confirm their email before reaching checkout - that extra step was quietly killing trial starts. Verification still happens, just after you're already in.
- Fixed a real error on the "Create an account" / "Sign in" toggle link that broke it after one use - it now works no matter how many times you switch back and forth.
v23Aug 23, 2026Improved
- The 401k chart's Loans line now plots on its own right-side scale instead of sharing the balance's axis, same fix as the debt drill-down chart - loan payoff is easier to actually see instead of getting flattened near zero.
v22Aug 23, 2026Fixed
- Deleting a debt or a history entry used to happen instantly with no way back. Now it's a "Deleted - Undo" prompt for a few seconds before it's actually gone, so a stray click on a small × next to your history doesn't cost you real data.
v21Aug 23, 2026New
- Added an "Exclude vehicles & mortgage" toggle to the debt chart, so a mortgage or car loan doesn't flatten the scale when you just want to see progress on higher-interest debt. Actual history for this view starts from today forward - can't rebuild it retroactively.
- 401k loans no longer need entering twice. Tag a debt "401k loan" (stage 4) in the table and its balance now auto-fills the 401k section's Loan fields - edit the balance in one place.
v20Aug 19, 2026Improved
- Added browser-side ad tracking to pair with the server-side reporting from v19 - fills in visits and clicks so our ad platform has more to learn from, not just completed signups.
v19Aug 14, 2026Improved
- Trial starts are now reported to our ad platform server-side, so campaign optimization works even for visitors with ad blockers on. No new data is collected from you beyond what checkout already needed.
v18Aug 12, 2026Fixed
- The single-debt drill-down now plots on its own right-side scale instead of sharing the total's axis, so a small balance doesn't get flattened to a barely-visible line next to a much bigger total.
v17Aug 12, 2026New
- Free trial extended from 14 to 60 days - plenty of time to actually use the history and graphing before deciding.
- The debt chart now has a "drill into one debt" dropdown - pick any debt and its own actual + projected balance overlays the total in gold, so you can watch one card or loan against the whole picture. Per-debt history starts accumulating from today forward.
- New "Consolidation helper" - select a few debts, enter a loan offer's APR and term, and see the combined monthly payment, payoff time, and total interest side by side with what you're already paying.
v16Aug 11, 2026Fixed
- The Interest column was overstating interest on every debt by a small rounding artifact (most visible on 0% APR debts, which should always show $0 and sometimes didn't) - now computed month by month instead of a shortcut formula.
- "Needs APR" no longer flags every 0% APR debt as broken. There's now a real signal for "you haven't confirmed this yet" separate from "this is genuinely 0%" - touch the APR field once (even re-entering 0) and it's confirmed. Debts still waiting on that show a "confirm APR" hint right in the table.
v15Aug 9, 2026Improved
- Landing page and the free-trial screen now spell out exactly what you get - debt tracking, "Where to focus" recommendations, 401k + savings, auto history, backups, and feedback tracking - instead of a vague 3-line pitch, so you know what you're signing up for before you're asked for a card.
v14Aug 9, 2026New
- Chart's contrast line now shows "Minimum payments only" instead of stopping payments entirely - a more realistic worst case.
- Added Avalanche and Snowball trend lines to the debt chart - both simulate paying off your debts with your current total monthly budget, just reallocated by strategy, so you can see the payoff curve each one produces. Toggle them on/off next to the chart legend.
v13Aug 9, 2026New
- New chart line: "If you stopped paying" - shows what your total debt would do from today if you made no more payments (interest only), right alongside your real payoff trend, so progress is visible by contrast.
- 401k balance and loan fields now show proper currency ($x.xx) instead of bare numbers.
- Fixed changelog version numbers - switched from decimal versions (which start looking like they reset once you pass x.9) to plain sequential v1, v2, v3...
v12Aug 9, 2026Improved
- Dollar amounts in the Debts table now show as proper currency ($x.xx) instead of bare numbers.
- When a debt hits $0 but still has a payment amount sitting on it, that money is now automatically rolled into your current focus target instead of quietly vanishing from the budget - with a note explaining not to zero out the payment field.
- Debts table is wider, columns are tighter, and the header row now stays frozen (both top and left) while you scroll - no more losing track of which column is which, or scrolling just to reach the delete icon.
v11Aug 9, 2026New
- New "Feedback" link in the toolbar - report a bug, request a feature, or just say something, right from the app. Every submission is tracked with a status (Received, Planned, In progress, Done) so you can see what happened to it.
v10Aug 9, 2026New
- New "Money basics" page - plain-language explanations of how interest really works (with real numbers), why minimum payments are a trap, avalanche vs. snowball, why an emergency fund comes first, high-yield savings accounts, and needs vs. wants budgeting.
- The focus panel now lists an exact suggested payment for every debt, not just the one to prioritize, plus a "Do this next" checklist that adapts to your actual situation.
- Added a note about high-yield savings accounts for parking your emergency fund.
- Proper SEO and social sharing tags (Open Graph, Twitter cards, favicon, sitemap) so links to Behave actually preview correctly when shared.
v9Aug 9, 2026Fixed
- Added a guard for a real trap: adding "Emergency fund" as a stage-1 row in the Debts table instead of a Savings goal. Debts only track balances going down, so it would silently never register as funded. Now it's called out directly in the focus panel with exactly what to do.
v8Aug 9, 2026Fixed
- Fixed emergency fund detection - it used to guess based on a goal being named "emergency," which broke for anyone (including the person who built this) who names their goals anything else. Now there's an explicit "This is my emergency fund" checkbox on each savings goal instead.
- Debts table columns are now sortable - click any header (Balance, APR, Min pmt, Payment, Months, Interest, Stage) to reorder by it, click again to reverse. "Clear sort" returns to your normal list order.
v7Aug 9, 2026Improved
- Underpaying a minimum payment now overrides everything else - it's flagged above the focus target, even before the emergency fund, with guidance on what to actually do about it (more income, or cut spending - wants first, then needs).
- The emergency fund still lives in Savings buffer goals, but is pulled into "Where to focus" while underfunded, with a "Current focus" badge tying the two together. Once it's funded, it quietly goes back to being a normal savings goal.
- Added a standing explanation of what a minimum payment actually is, next to the debt stages.
v6Aug 9, 2026New
- Track minimum payment alongside actual payment per debt, with a warning if you're paying below the minimum on anything.
- New "Where to focus" panel: a single recommended target debt (after your emergency fund is funded), with a suggested payment amount based on your minimums-plus-extra budget.
- Choose your strategy - avalanche (highest APR first, saves the most interest) or snowball (smallest balance first, fastest wins) - toggle anytime, it's remembered on your account.
v5Aug 9, 2026New
- Moved to behave.money and gave the product a real name and identity.
- Added an actual landing page explaining what this is and why it's maintained - not just a login form.
v4Aug 9, 2026Improved
- Renamed debt stages to plain-language labels (Emergency fund, Quick wins, Big debts, 401k loan, Vehicles & mortgage, 0% leftovers) so they make sense to anyone, not just their original author.
- Added guidance on building a $1,000 emergency fund before attacking debt - now the first step in the getting-started guide and explained under the stage key.
v3Aug 9, 2026New
- In-app getting-started guide, shown automatically for new accounts and reachable anytime from the toolbar.
v2Aug 9, 2026New
- Subscriptions are live: 14-day free trial, then $9/month.
- Self-service billing management (update card, view invoices, cancel) via Stripe's customer portal.
- Trial-days-remaining banner.
v1Aug 9, 2026New
- Initial launch: real email/password accounts, each with fully private data.
- Debt tracking with true interest-aware payoff projections (not just balance ÷ payment).
- Payoff order view showing which debt clears next.
- Automatic trend history - every change is snapshotted, nothing to plot by hand.
- 401k position and loan tracking with its own trend chart.
- Savings buffer goals with progress bars.
- Full backup export/import, editable and deletable history entries.
- Staleness reminder after 30 days without an update.
